Worth having to hand: the model number from the plate behind the kick panel, and a plain description of what the appliance is doing and when it started.
Before you call
Five that come up every week
What is the $95 for?
The visit and the full diagnosis: gas pressure and ignition on a range or cooktop, temperature and element behaviour on an oven, airflow and blower draw on ventilation. It is credited against the repair once you approve one, and it is the entire bill if you decide not to go ahead.
Which Wolf appliances do you take on?
Gas and dual-fuel ranges including the wide models with a griddle, charbroiler or French top; wall ovens and range ovens; gas, induction and electric cooktops; and wall, island and pro hoods together with their remote blowers. Refrigeration is a different trade and we do not pretend otherwise.
My igniter clicks constantly. Is that dangerous?
Persistent clicking with no flame usually means a burner cap is off its seat or the electrode is wet or fouled — irritating rather than dangerous, and often fixable in five minutes with the burner cold. If you can smell gas with everything switched off, stop, ventilate the room and call the gas utility before you call us.
Can you work on the ducting as well as the hood?
We diagnose and service the hood, its blower and the damper. Alterations to the duct itself inside the structure are a different trade, and we will tell you when that is where the fault sits rather than charging to chase it.
Do you need the model number?
It saves a great deal of time. On a range it is on a plate behind the kick panel or on the frame under the door; on a wall oven, on the frame at the side. The phone is answered 24/7 and the work is carried out 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.

Wide island cooktop in a newer kitchen. The spark kept firing at the head next door instead of its own. A cracked ceramic on one electrode was leaking the charge across. New electrode and it fires clean.

Colonial Revival with the kitchen at the back. Simmer would not hold on the left side. He rebuilt the valve instead of selling me a new one and set the low flame by eye and by meter together.

Pro style hood over a wide range in a small kitchen, so the noise is very present. He rebalanced the wheel and put in two new mounts. It runs quieter on high now than it used to on low.
